The Cleaning Authority Cares: Summer Food Drive
How Can You Help?
During one of your next cleans, our employees will be leaving behind a The Cleaning Authority CARES grocery bag. Please fill this with the food you'd like to donate and leave it somewhere visible at the time of your next clean. Cleaners will pick up the bag of food from your home and take it back to our office.
We are partnering with HACAP (Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc.), a non-profit that is part of the Feeding America network. Donated food will go to the HACAP Food Reservoir, which currently serves 97 partner agencies within the Benton, Johnson, Linn, Jones, Washington, Cedar and Iowa Counties. We’ll be part of the organization’s Eastern Iowa Freedom from Hunger campaign to make a big difference in our community!
For our first collection we are focusing on kid-friendly foods that require little to no prep. Summer is known as the hungriest time of year for kids because many who are in food programs at school are no longer provided breakfast and lunch when the school year ends. Here are some ideas on non-perishable food items you can place in the bag:
- Pop-Top Tuna
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Fruit, Fruit Cups, or Dried Fruit
- Low-Sugar Cereal
- Peanut Butter
- Sliced Bread, Tortillas, or Crackers
- Baby Formula and Food
- Snack Items
- Applesauce
- Granola Bars
- Juice Boxes
- Biscuit or Baking Mixes That Only Require Water
- Pasta & Pasta Sauce
- Other Non-Perishable Food
