August is Picnic Month! Eating outside on a blanket always seems like a nice idea to spend some time with family, but once you’re out there you may find that the reality of sitting on the ground outside eating food isn’t as nice as you thought.
We can’t promise the picture-perfect picnic, but these hacks should help you get on your way there!
Keep Cool: Instead of using ice to keep food cool, freeze a few plastic water bottles. Your food will be cool without getting wet, and when the water bottles have melted, you’ll have a nice cold drink!
No Bug Juice: Put muffin liners upside down over top of your cups and poke a straw through them. This will help keep your drinks bug free.
DIY Snack Bowl: Take a large chip bag and fold the bottom corners towards each other, then push them up until the bottom of the bag is a flat surface. This will turn the bag into an instant snack bowl.
Stay Dry: Place a shower curtain under your picnic blanket to ensure it stays dry on the ground.
Pack a Salad: Use a Mason jar or plastic cup to pack a salad. Pour the dressing in the bottom, then layer form the wettest to driest ingredients. Toss when you’re ready to eat for a non-soggy salad!
